Food for thought by Audrey Hepburn

Kind hält Blumen und singt

The other day, I was browsing through my bookshelf and came across the book How to be Lovely: The Audrey Hepburn Way of Living (*) by Melissa Hellstern – always a refreshing read for me; an inspiring collection of images, stories and thoughts that reveals the essence and philosophy of life of Audrey Hepburn.

“… I think that’s what life is all about, actually – about children and flowers.” (Audrey Hepburn)

Words that invite me to reflect on priorities in life – and on the role models we adults offer and exemplify for the young observers in our society.

The more delicate the beings – whether children or flowers – the more responsible and demanding the “gardener’s” work is… With words, deeds and by setting an example, we nurture, cultivate and raise our children.

What influence does my (our) action have on the personality development of the real VIPs of our society: our CHILDREN?

I dream of a world that treats children as the most important and precious thing and PROTECTS CHILDREN; a world that enables the best for families, for the development and education of their children. For I also believe…

“A quality education has the power to transform societies in a single generation, provide children with the protection they need from the hazards of poverty, labour exploitation and disease, and give them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to reach their full potential.” (Audrey Hepburn)

I keep on dreaming…
